Coffee Morning, February 2024

welcome to our new coffee morning

We were delighted to welcome so many parents and carers to our first coffee morning on 1st February. It was wonderful to see the Independence Project full of parents and carers all chatting away whilst enjoying a cup of coffee and eating some delicious cakes and biscuits made by our amazing members – the chocolate brownies were a particular hit!

The coffee morning was a great opportunity for parents and carers of children across different age groups to come together; including those with children already members of the Independence Project, and others who are just starting out on their journey with a SEN child. This offered parents and carers a valuable chance to benefit from sharing experiences. Often, parents and carers are unaware of the available support, so having conversations with others facing similar situations can prove highly beneficial. And it was wonderful to see the mutual support they offered one another.

We’ve had some lovely feedback from our coffee morning…

“To be able to share services used and others experiences was so useful”

“Keep it up! It was lovely to walk in and made to feel welcome with smiling faces and yummy refreshments thank you!”

“It was a lovely coffee morning during which I learned some tips on how to support my daughter better.”

“You are all approachable, understanding, kind and you all really care!”

“It was lovely finding out all the great activities and opportunities that you offer to the young adults.”

“Talking to others about their experiences. Generally such a lovely atmosphere.”

“Really useful to gain more of an understanding of what the Independence Project offers as well as talking to other parents. It was a really good event, thank you for hosting.”

Please join us for our next coffee morning – date to be confirmed!
