Chelmsford Day Opportunities
Day centre's for young adults with learning disabilities, autism, adhd & profound & multiple learning disabilities
The Independence Project strives to support as many individuals as possible with the firm belief that everyone deserves the opportunity to live the most independent and fulfilling life. By providing care, support and activities we aim to improve the physical, mental and social wellbeing and development of young adults with additional needs, and maximize their opportunities.
To achieve this, we work across two services:
- the base (for young adults with learning disabilities and autism)
- the hive (for young adults with profound and multiple learning disabilities (PMLD) and complex health needs
These spaces allow us to tailor everything, from the facilities to the activities, to suit the unique needs, abilities, and age groups of the people we support. Most importantly, they help our members build independence while connecting and growing alongside their peers.
Day opportunities tailored towards the needs, abilities & ages of those we support
Funding & Support
Both of our services are part of the Essex County Council (ECC) day opportunities framework and commissioned services can be secured for any individual the council is looking to place through a direct payment, individual service fund or managed budget.
We are proud of the pioneering work we are doing with Individual Service Funds which enable us to provide our members with a personal budget managing service that offers much more flexibility than traditional funding.
Every one of our members has their own individual outcome plans that encompasses their needs and personal goals focusing on enablement/reablement, independence, choice, control and progression. We are committed to delivering diverse adult day programs of fun and engaging activities with a strong emphasis on learning life skills, socialising and real life experiences in the community.
