Welcome to The Hive – A Purpose-Built Space for Young Adults with Profound and Multiple Learning Disabilities
At The Hive, we believe that our incredible young people deserve more than just an adapted space – they deserve a facility designed entirely around their needs. That’s why we’ve created a state-of-the-art environment that is not only fully accessible but also truly enriching, comfortable, and engaging. Our specially designed unit features:
• Overhead hoists for safe and seamless mobility
• A dedicated sensory area with blackout blinds, sensory lights, and a ceiling projector for immersive experiences during physio and relaxation sessions
• A fully accessible kitchen to encourage independence in a safe and supportive setting
• A cosy lounge area with specially designed supportive seating
• An indoor garden space, complete with a tactile grass wall for sensory exploration
• Our very own hot tub, perfect for hydrotherapy and relaxation
• Spacious, thoughtfully designed changing facilities that ensure dignity and comfort, with lighting specifically designed to reduce glare and sensory discomfort
But The Hive is more than just a space – it’s a community. Our highly trained and experienced staff provide a diverse range of activities tailored to the needs and interests of our members. From day trips and cooking sessions to yoga with a specialist PMLD practitioner, Reiki, sensory stories, music therapy, and more, we offer a rich and fulfilling experience that supports both well-being and enjoyment. At The Hive, we don’t believe in making do – we believe in making it right. Our members deserve the best, and that’s exactly what we’re here to provide.
